In 2012, I developed a love of cake decorating while working as a cashier at Walmart. I remember finding myself spending a lot of time helping out in the bakery, despite the fact that I had absolutely no prior decorating experience.
One day, because the head decorator was gone, the store manager put me in charge of filling a cake order that was due that day. I freaked out! I had never decorated a cake alone before. However, to my surprise, the cake turned out GREAT, and I've been doing cakes ever since!
In 2013, I left Walmart to continue my college education studying Early Education. Little did I know that the one summer off from college would completely change my life plan. I dropped out of college to attend the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and cake decorating quickly consumed my life. All I wanted to do was eat sleep and breathe the culinary & baking side.
Upon graduating, I took a position as the Head Decorator at Giant Food Stores. However, it only took me a year to discover that I really wanted to breakout on my own and pursue Shericakes on a full-time level.
On April 1st 2015, I took a leap of faith and made Shericakes my main source of income. A year later I couldn't be more satisfied with my decision. I am now a Certified Pastry Chef. I have competed in multiple cake decorating competitions, and I have met cake idols such as Ron Ben-Israel, Buddy the Cake Boss, and Mich Turner.
